Choosing a Wedding Theme for You



A wedding theme is not a necessity but it can be something fun to add to your day. Many weddings will actually have a theme without realising it. There are many different wedding theme ideas that work well with all types of weddings and other ideas that are for those held at a specific time of the year.

Why Have a Wedding Theme?

One of the main benefits to a theme is that your wedding will be more memorable. This is especially the case if people enjoy your theme. You will also be able to add some personality to your big day and show people a side to you that they would not usually see.

Themes for Everyone

There are some wedding theme ideas that are suitable for all weddings and all couples. Love hearts, butterflies and roses are great additions if you just want to add a small theme. You do not need to go overboard with them and can just include them on the wedding stationary and in small sections around the ceremony and reception.

These simple themes are also affordable. Many of them you can create yourself, without having to spend a fortune on design companies or specialists to create your big day. You will be able to add some romance to your day through your wedding theme too.

Ideas With Venue In Mind

There are times that the venue will play an important part in choosing a wedding theme. The reception hall may be a building from the 16th century, so you may decide on a Tudor-style wedding. You will need to keep the venue in mind when choosing the venue, especially if you are holding a time period theme. The last thing you want to do is have a 1940s theme when the wedding venue was built at the turn of the 20th century.

If you have a posh reception venue, such as a stately home or a high quality hotel, you may choose to hold a masquerade ball. These are fun to do and may help to create an elegant mood for the night event. Just make sure you make it clear to people that this is something you are holding so they come dressed to impressed and with a mask.

Themes for the Time of Year

The time of the year can play an important role in choosing the best wedding theme. Winter wonderland ideas are great if you have a winter wedding. As your wedding is closer to Christmas, you may choose to have a Santa’s Grotto for the children to enjoy themselves in. Winter Wonderlands are affordable and easy to do with fairy lights and a silver and white colour scheme.

If you are getting married on Halloween, you may choose to have a Halloween themed wedding. This is not for everybody but could be fun if it suits your personality. If you are going to have this theme, make sure that you warn people on the invitations so they know to come dressed up in a costume.

Whatever wedding theme ideas you opt for, make sure you have your own personality in mind. If you are naturally traditional and that is what you want your wedding to be, do not think that you have to have a wedding theme. You want to look back on your day and remember it for all the right reasons and not constantly wish that you could have done everything differently. Of course, never think about others and always opt for something you and your partner want – whether it is a Halloween theme or you want to keep it simple with just a colour scheme.

How Much Should You Spend on Your Wedding?

I recently saw a thread on a forum about people spending tens of thousands of pounds on their wedding. There does seem to be a big move into spending a large amount on one day. To some that’s stupid but to others it’s their dream. How much should you spend on your wedding? Honestly, I believe it should be as cheap or as expensive as you’d like.
