Honeymoon Ideas for All Budgets

Moving away from the actual wedding this week, I want to touch on the honeymoon. We didn’t do a proper honeymoon. Ours was a pre-wedding honeymoon and consisted of a trip to London for a few days to see the Paralympics. It proved to us that it is possible to do a budget honeymoon and still have fun.

The problem is planning a honeymoon can take just as much time – if not more time – as planning the wedding. There are many different honeymoon ideas to choose from and you want to get it perfect. My partner and I agreed that it was better to wait to splash out on a honeymoon. We took advantage of the London Paralympic games happening the week before our wedding but if it wasn’t for that, we were going to opt for a honeymoon at a later stage, like Christmas, Easter or for the year anniversary. For us, that was the best way to get the perfect honeymoon destination for us.

Here are some great honeymoon ideas for you and will suit all budgets.

Take a Cruise

It sounds expensive, right? Wrong! There are so many cruises available now that there is bound to be something to suit your budget and the holiday time you have available from work. You don’t need to opt for a trip around the world – although that is a great idea if you do have the funds. You could opt for a seven day trip down the River Danube in Austria or the River Rhine in Germany. Many of these cruises are all-inclusive and a coach picks you up from your city. It means your spending money can be spent on treats and gifts, if you want to get your family anything. There are also cruises to China, South Africa and Australia for those with a larger budget.

Take a Ski Trip

Want to do something fun while on your honeymoon? Something that my partner suggested to me was a skiing honeymoon. It would have been a great idea if I could actually ski or had ever tried it! We’ve now decided that it’s a family vacation for when our daughter grows up. They can ski and I’ll enjoy hot chocolates while watching.

However, skiing is perfect for all budgets. There are many honeymoon destinations to choose from, including France, Austria, Switzerland and Canada. This is an option for both winter and summer weddings. There are also many ski destinations that offer lessons if you really want to try it.

Cycling in the Sun

If you are outgoing people and enjoy bike rides, cycling is a great option. Europe is a wonderful place for cycling and Italy hits the top of the list. It is a romantic honeymoon destination and offers some amazing sights to see while riding. You can also opt for a boat ride through Venice to really get the romantic juices flowing.

Don’t worry about what others think of your honeymoon ideas. I’m a big fan of doing something different – hence the pre-wedding honeymoon! – so I’d say go for something that suits you. There are plenty of honeymoon destinations to choose from and so many ideas. Do something that you will both enjoy and remember for the rest of your lives together.
